The fasteners in this section belong to a family known as lock bolts. Lock bolts are two piece fasteners which offer very high strength, high security joints in applications that require the most robust fastening solution. Another commonly used term for lock bolts is Huck bolts.
Lock bolts are not blind fasteners and require access from both sides to allow fitting.
To install a lock bolt the pin part of the fastener is inserted into a pre-prepared hole in the application. From the other side a collar is pushed onto the tail of the pin. A power tool is then applied to the pin tail. When the tool is operated, the collar is drawn up the pin until a pre-determined clamp load is applied to the joint. The collar is then swaged onto the pin and secured. The portion of the pin held in the tool is then broken off and ejected.
