The time and cost saving advantages of blind riveting are quite simple to understand. The materials to be riveted only need to be reached from one side, which explains the term "blind" riveting. The actual installation process is quick, simple and repeatable without the need for skilled labour.
Rivets are made of two parts, the body or shell and the mandrel. The body is expanded when the mandrel is withdrawn as the rivet is set, and it is this part which clamps the materials together. The function of the mandrel is to deform the body of the rivet. The mandrel is therefore always stronger than the body. The mandrel breaks off at it a predetermined breaking point. This breaking point ensures that the mandrel breaks off at the right moment so that the body is correctly formed with the end of the stem contained within the rivet body, and the materials are permanently clamped tightly together.
The original 'pop' rivet, standard open rivets are widely used in all types of assembly. Versatile and available in a large range of materials, head styles and sizes open rivets are suited to assembling most metal to metal assemblies as well as metal to plastic, plastic to plastic and many other hard rigid materials
Sealed rivets closely resemble standard open rivets in the way they work. the main difference being that the rivet body completely encapsulates the rivet stem. This means that the rivet is completely sealed when installed, making the rivet ideal for use in exterior applications where water resistance may be required.
Multigrip rivets, As the name suggests, can joint a wide range of materials with just one length of rivet. this is especially useful for those who want the maximum flexibility from a small stock holding.
Multigrip rivets collapse during installation to create a neat blub on the rear side of the joint which gives a neat cosmetic effect and the retained stem gives a semi-sealed weather proof joint.
Available in a range of materials, head styles and diameters to cover most requirements.
Coloured rivets can be used to mask the rivet head by matching the background material it is set into. Coloured rivets are made in a range of stock sizes, head styles and colours. Subject to quantity rivets can also be produced to match any RAL colour code
