Breakstem rivet systems

Breakstem fasteners allow the simple and fast assembly of two or more components from one side of the application. For many years rivets have been used in all types of industry where a cost effective and permanent method of assembly is required. For over fifty years Avdel has been at the forefront of rivet design and manufacture. Whilst most people think that a rivet is just a rivet, Avdel fasteners have many important features that can help in achieving a lasting and high quality result.

Speed fasteners

Speed fasteners are installed using a unique repetition mandrel system. During placement, the tool pulls the mandrel through the rivet giving both axial and radial expansion - providing clamp and hole fill.

Structural breakstem fasteners

Structural blind fasteners are designed for rapid assembly where high shear and tensile strength is required. Unlike ordinary break stem rivets, in structural breakstem fasteners the mandrel becomes an integral part of the placed fastener – adding considerable strength to the assembled components.

Structural two part fasteners

The fasteners in this section belong to a family known as ‘lock bolts’ Lock bolts are two piece fasteners which offer high strength, high security joints in applications that require the most robust fastening solution.

Avdel Nutserts

Single piece assemblies combining a nut and rivet which provide high quality, load bearing female threads in thin sheet materials, box sections and tubing.

Avseal Sealing plugs

Avseal is a high performance sealing plug. Designed primarily to seal cross drillings and galleries in castings, Avseal can withstand blow out pressures exceeding 1500 bar. Typical applications include hydraulic units, transmissions, pneumatic units, fuel, oil and water pumps. Placed using standard Genesis break-stem tooling, Avseal is quick to install and requires no special skills. Unlike most other sealing methods special hole preparation is not required – just a simple drilled hole. No thread tapping, special sealants or press tools are required. All together this makes for a very cost effective solution to your sealing problems. Avseal is suitable for ferrous or alloy materials and will tolerate a wide range of operating temperatures.
