Breakstem Rivet Systems
Breakstem fasteners allow the simple and fast assembly of two or more components from one side of the application. For many years rivets have been used in all types of industry where a cost effective and permanent method of assembly is required. For fifty years Avdel has been at the forefront of rivet design and manufacture. Whilst most people think that a rivet is just a rivet, Avdel fasteners have some important features that can help in achieving a lasting and high quality result.
Most Avdel fasteners have a multigrip capability. This means that just one length of fastener can be used on a multitude of material combinations – without compromising on performance. In addition a multigrip rivet will always pull down tightly and give a neat blind side tail formation – thus ensuring no sharp edges and a good cosmetic appearance.
To ensure that a joint remains tight it is important that, as well as clamping down, the fastener expands to completely fill the hole. This means that when shear load is applied or vibration occurs, nothing can move to loosen the joint. All Avdel breakstem fasteners have excellent hole fill characteristics.
Most Avdel breakstem fasteners have positively retained stems. This means that the broken portion of the mandrel is firmly crimped into the outer shell - ensuring that it cannot either fall out at a later stage, or rattle around. A by product of this is that nearly all Avdel rivets produce a sealed joint. Whilst not necessarily resistant to pressure, the results can be described as weatherproof.
When considered as a whole, you can rest assured that the choice of an Avdel blind fastener will assist in the assembly of a high quality, durable finished product.

Avex - multigrip aluminium rivets
A highly versatile, multigrip rivet with a long and reliable track record. The aluminium body with a positively retained steel stem gives excellent hole fill, and a large blind side bearing area ensures a strong vibration resistant joint. The placed fastener is resistant to the ingress of non pressurised water and air.
The extended grip range means that just one rivet length will cover a large number of material combinations - thus reducing inventory, and the chances of assembly error.
Variants include snap head, large flange and countersunk. There is splined steel version for paint breaking on electrical applications and painted or anodised finishes are available to special order.

Stavex - multigrip steel and stainless rivets
Produced in both zinc plated mild steel and stainless steel, Stavex has exceptional multigrip capabilities. One rivet length covers numerous material thicknesses, and the placed fastener has excellent hole fill properties combined with a large blind side bulb - thus ensuring high strength joints. The placed fastener is resistant to the ingress of non pressurised water and air.
Stavex is suited to applications where high strength and flexibility are required.
Variants include snap head and large flange. Painted and anodised finishes are available to special order.

Avinox 2- high performance all stainless steel rivets
Avinox 2 is a very high strength all stainless steel rivet with a large, neatly formed blind side tail. Excellent for use with either thin gauge materials or thick to thin applications, Avinox 2 is the ideal choice where the cosmetic appearance of the rivet is important.
Manufactured from polished stainless steel Avinox 2 offers excellent multigrip performance and corrosion resistance. The placed fastener is resistant to the ingress of non pressurised water and air.

Avibulb - high performance steel rivets
Avibulb is a zinc plated and gold passivated fastener providing high shear and tensile strength. Identical in design to Avinox 2, Avibulb combines high performance with excellent cosmetics. The large blind side tail is ideal for producing high strength joints in thinner gauge materials.

Bulbex - rivets for soft and brittle materials
An all aluminium fastener with a long tail that splits and folds into three lobes when placed. Bulbex is suitable for the assembly of soft or fragile material including board, wood, fibreglass, plastics etc. Bulbex has very good multigrip capabilities and can join materials up to 12.0 millimetres thick.
Available to special order plastic snap on caps are offered in a range of colours to match your requirements.

T-Lok - for wood, board or plastics
An all steel fastener with high resistance to pull out loads. Designed to anchor into softer materials T-Lok is suitable for fixing metal to wood, wood to wood, board to low density plastic etc. T-Loks specially designed load spreading tail peels in three directions when placed, and works well in both blind and thin gauge applications.

Sealed - fully sealed rivets in a variety of materials
SR is a fully sealed rivet for use in applications which have to be fully resistant to water or air ingress. Manufactured from a variety of materials including aluminium, stainless steel, copper and copper nickel, SR Rivet has good hole fill and multigrip characteristics.
SR Rivet is available in raised and countersunk head forms.

Earth Tab - A cost-effective earthing
Based upon the high clamp Avibulb 4.0 millimetre diameter rivet, this fastener has the addition of a brass twin tab spade connector. To ensure that electrical continuity is achieved even on painted materials, Earth Tab Rivet has two special paint breaking spines, which are forced through the paint during placing.
Designed for use on circuits up to and including 240 volts, this fastener has been approved to EN60335-1 and BS 3456 part 201 for earthing purposes.
